One of my favorite places to visit in Seoul is Toksu Palace. In the Korean language it’s spelled: 덕수궁.
The last time I was there, I made a nice 20 minute video of the whole palace and grounds. Check it out.
If you’re looking for something fun to do while living or visiting in Seoul, the Toksu Palace is got to be your first visit. It’s a wonderful location in the middle of the city at the City Hall Subway station. Come up to the street level and you will probably hear a demonstration by actors wearing traditional Korean Uniforms performing with their instruments. It’s a daily affair, so you can enjoy it any time. This lovely spectacle occurs at the front gates of Toksu Palace. Enjoy the show and then buy a very inexpensive ticket to go inside. It only costs about 1200W, or 1.20$. This is also a great place for meeting people and having a nice walk while you talk.
Another great thing about visiting Toksu Palace at City Hall is the wonderful water fountain display across from the Palace and the excellent grassy field for having picnics. This is a great place in the summer for a meeting and often there are concerts and events taking place here. Children just love running through the water fountains. And lastly, the famous Namdaemun Market is just a ten minute walk up the street. I will throw in a map for you at the bottom of this page.
Check out the video I made below. My two little boys are running around to keep everybody entertained.
